About me

I’m Chetan Chalurkar, a Ph.D. candidate at IIT Roorkee, My research focuses on environmental noise reduction, specifically finding technical ways to protect residential and public spaces from high levels of noise exposure. I combine computational acoustics with experimental validation to develop effective solutions...

I am working under the guidance of Dr. Sneha Singh at the Mechanical Vibration and Noise Control Laboratory, where I am exploring the potential of sonic crystals for low-frequency noise reduction and their design optimization using machine learning techniques. In addition to my research, I serve as a Teaching Assistant for the NPTEL online course 'Noise Control in Mechanical Systems' leading by my supervisor, a internal mechanical course subject for  undergraduate students at IIT Roorkee.

"I am privileged to be guided by Dr. Sneha Singh, an accomplished researcher and dedicated educator in the fields of Acoustics, Noise Control, Vibration Control, Metamaterials, Condition Monitoring, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. Dr. Sneha Singh completed her Ph.D. at the University of Warwick, UK, and has over 5 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor at IIT Roorkee. Her depth of knowledge, coupled with her passion for advancing noise control technologies, has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my Ph.D. journey.

Under her mentorship in the Mechanical Vibration and Noise Control Laboratory, I have  gained technical expertise and developed understanding of innovative approaches in computational and experimental acoustics.
